Immune Pak/TonicMy
family has always used Elderberry for the flu but the
last time I started feeling sick, I wanted to try Astragalus and Echinacea for
myself so I made a quart of herbal infusion using two tablespoons of Echinacea,
two Astragalus Root Slices and a pinch of Chamomile Flowers.
I drank the infusion before bed and made another infusion and stored it in the
refrigerator for the following day. I went to bed with achy muscles
feeling as though I wouldn't be able to get out of bed by morning. I woke
up and couldn't believe the difference. I felt 100% better. I drank the other infusion
the following day and I never did get sick. The key is to start taking
these herbs at first onset and to continue taking them until you
feel 100% back to normal. Astragalus is contraindicated with fever. To read the full Immune article, click here. These herbs can be taken to boost your immune system as we enter flu season or they can be taken at first onset of symptoms. As a preventative, drink 1-2 cups of tea per week. If you feel you are coming down with something, drink 1-2 cups per day, up to 1 quart per day. Keep drinking until you feel you are back to normal. We've put together a few different immune tonic options for you to choose from. Our Bulk Herb Immune Pak Complete Kit includes everything you need to prepare your own immune tonic (includes herbs, jars, strainer). Our Bulk Herb Immune Pak Herb Only Kit includes all of the bulk herbs needed for your immune pak. This kit is for those who already have their own strainer and jars or it can be used as a refill or for couples or families who want to buy extra herbs. We also offer a Immune Tonic Tincture. The tincture can be added to hot water or your favorite beverage and taken 2-3 times per day. The herbs included in the immune pak:
Echinacea is an immune
system stimulant and strengthener. It boosts the
immune system to help prevent cold, flu, allergies and minor
upper respiratory infections. Echinacea was used by
North America's Native Indians to treat fevers and by early
settlers to
Chamomile is added to the tonic for taste and its calming affects on the body and nervous system. It helps you rest.
To prepare your own Immune Tonic, follow the instructions below: To prepare herbs, pour 2 tablespoons of Echinacea, 2 Astragalus Roots, and a pinch of Chamomile into the quart size Mason jar provided. Boil one quart (4 cups) of water. Pour boiling water over herb. Cover with lid and let it brew for 2-4 hours. Strain and drink or mix with root combo and drink. I usually prepare my herbal infusion before bed and strain it in the morning. The important thing with the immune tonic is to take it at first onset so if you need to drink it before bed, make a tea by adding 1 tablespoon of Echinacea, 1 Astragalus Root and a pinch of Chamomile to 2 cups of water, steep for 20 minutes, strain and drink. Sip your infusion throughout the day. Store in the refrigerator. It will keep up to 36 hours. This kit will last approximately one week if taken daily. |
